OUR APPROACH
Precision in the brief.
Clarity in the next step.
A considered approach begins with understanding the material and defining the information needed to assess it.
THE MATERIAL CONVERSATION
Start with facts.
Build from there.
The right questions depend on the source, the polymer and the intended application. Our starting point is a clear description of all three.
Establish the material identityRecord the original product or process, known polymer, colour and physical form. Identify blends, additives and other materials where known, and make uncertainty visible.
Define the intended useConnect a buying enquiry to the manufacturing process and finished application. Identify essential performance requirements and the aspects that can be explored through qualification.
Agree the evidenceSpecify the relevant technical information, source records and batch references. Where a test result matters, agree the method and conditions as well as the number.
Set out the practical detailConfirm quantity, presentation, location, timing and commercial terms. Any collection, delivery or sample arrangements should be clear before material moves.
Keep the description currentChanges in source, composition, colour or preparation may change the assessment. Use consistent references and communicate material changes before carrying an earlier agreement forward.
EVIDENCE WITH A PURPOSE
Know what each
document tells you.
Different records answer different questions.
A technical datasheet describes a material grade. A batch report relates to the sample or batch tested. An origin declaration supports a source description. The relevant records depend on the actual requirement and should be agreed as part of the enquiry.
Recycled origin, technical performance and suitability for a particular end use are separate considerations. A clear brief gives each the attention it needs.
Read about origin and traceabilityUSEFUL POINTS TO AGREE
- A material description shared by both parties
- The properties and ranges relevant to the application
- Melt-flow test conditions, where flow is specified
- Sample or trial requirements and approval responsibility
- Required origin, batch and delivery information
- How changes to the material will be communicated
The level of detail should suit the material and its intended use. A well-defined enquiry helps identify what still needs to be established.
